I got MS Antivirus 2009, which seems to be a newer variant of this virus. I think I got rid of it. Here\’s how I did it:
1. stop process: CTRL-ATL-DEL –> Processes (tab) –> msas2009.exe
2. Delete: C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\CrucialSoft Ltd
* Just delete the entire folder (CrucialSoft Ltd), which contains all of the MS Antivirus 2009 software.
3. Delete Registries: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\ CurrentVersion\\Run\\MS Antivirus 2009

The only thing that bugs me still is that in the instructions above, I never found any questionable CPL or DLL files… either they switched the names up pretty good or the files may have been detected and deleted already. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I too am having this problem. Malwarebytes, Spy Sweeper, Mcafee, AVG have all failed to resolve and I can find NONE of the files, reg keys or processes you have listed above. Can anyone recommend how to procedd from here.

I have tried what you suggested itsjusme and there are no av2009.exe currently on my computer but still the virus is not yet eliminated. I performed the automatic download of the paretologic antivirus and it does not seem to have removed the virus. I also tried bitdefender and AVG without success. I am so frustrated that I feel like just throwing this computer away. Is there anything else anyone else can suggest. My OS is vista. Any help is appreciated.

This is how I got rid of AV2009. From the suggestions of this website, I did the following things.
1. Start- then type AV2009.exe file
2. CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
3. CLICK THE PROCESSES TAB
4. HIGHLIGHT av2009.exe file: then right click and hit end process
5. START- then type regedit
6. OPEN UP HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
7. HIGHLIGHT SOFTWARE
8. CTRL+F: then type av2009.exe file
9. REMOVE all files associated with 2009.exe file
10. CTRL+F: type av2009.exe file and remove all files associated with av2009
11. CONTINUE CTRL+F: type av2009.exe file until all files have been removed
This is what worked for me. Hope that it works for you

click start, click search and then click all files and folders, do a search for av2009, look in – local hard drives (c;d) and then do search, any files that come up delete. Once deleted empty recycle bin, and then restart computer. Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me, How to remove Antivirus 200 completely, i have partial sucess but ke poping up, What o lok for in registery , I have also tried automatic software from this website, it did\’t do job. This Antivirious 2009 do not let me download. AV2009 remover-pro. If anyone can help me with his, I would apriciate it.

Geek Lady I am having the same problem.. I wrote down the instructions, but not sure how you started. Did you turn off your computer to start this procedure? I am so tired of this on my computer and I am not paying for this to be removed when I didn’t sign up for it. Thanking you in advance for your help.

these “antivirus 2009″ removal instructions were absolutely lifesaving…my computer’s life, that is, as i was literally seconds from taking a baseball bat to it. thank you from the bottom of my hard drive.

Manual instructions were helpful. The registry entry number was actually different and the winsrc.dll was nowhere to be found on the computer. Shortcuts were still existing (desktop/startmenue), but in general really helpful information. thanks!

The only one of the harmful files that I located, (I had previously deleted the Antivirus 2009 folders and AV2009.exe file), was winsrc.dll. I was unable to delete it; within Explorer, the popup error titled \\"Error Deleting File or Folder\\", contains message \\"Cannot delete winsrc: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.\\" I also tried from a command prompt and the error \\"Access is denied\\" appeared. Rebooted into Save Mode and was able to delete the file, winsrc.dll.
I searched the registry for AV2009, and found a reference in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\Microsoft\\\\Shared Tools\\\\Startupreg\\\\13326110047002357643050406396055\\\\

I deleted this reg key. Rebooted. Starting IE. It\\\’s loading my start pages, YES!! THANK YOU soooo much!!! I\\\’ve been trying to resolve this for three days. Thanks again!!
