This supposed "tool" and/or it's associated hackers use port exploitation to install rogue programs on your system, change the registry, block display setting and desktop setting changes, block system restore, and block using task manager. they force a fake alert and try to get you to buy the bogus software. It is very harmful and these guys need to be prosecuted.

What threat does this virus actually cause to my PC as long as I do not click the false alert and buy the fake \\"virus removal\\" software? My regular anti-virus system can find nothing wrong, so i am wondering this because if it doesn\\\'t cause me any threat as long as i don\\\'t buy the fake software i would simply rather leave it be than spend my money on the REAL anti-spyware software which may be required to fix this. Fast replies will be much appreciated.

I was a victim of VirusRemover2008's trojan. I did not however d/l the program. I wound up paying Spy Hunter $29 to remove it. I wish I had found this guide sooner. I think it is organizations like Enigma software (creator of Spy Hunter) who thrive off this type of trojan and until companies like Norton and McAfee protect us against this real threat, we will continue to suffer from these trojan programs. I have McAfee security Suite and it did not protect me from VirusRemover2008's trojan.
