Description: Trace Sweeper (or TraceSweeper) is a fake anti-spyware, a software that uses malware (malicious software) or malicious tools to advertise or install itself or to force computer users to pay for removal of nonexistent spyware. Trace Sweeper will often install a trojan horse to download a trial version, or it will execute other unwanted actions.
It intentionally misrepresents the security status of a computer and attempts to convince the user that he must remove potentially unwanted programs or security risks (usually nonexistent or fake) from the computer.
Trace Sweeper will hold the user hostage by refusing to allow him to remove or fix the phantom problems until it is purchased and installed.
