Spyware Protect 2009 (or SpywareProtect 2009) is a rogue anti-spyware application (fake software) that displays fake security results to scare the user into purchasing the program. The purpose of these fake anti-malware programs is to get your credit card information in order to then commit fraud with it.
While Spyware Protect 2009 is installing on the user’s computer it will create random files with a size 0 bytes and will configure itself to automatically start every time the computer is booting. After automatically starting itself and scanning the user’s system, Spyware Protect 2009 will list several fake threats that will not be removed unless you buy the software. These threats are no more than the random files it created at the first place. Actually, these files are harmless and are not dangerous to the computer. the only aim of these files is to scare the user into buying Spyware Protect 2009.
The security alerts from the taskbar, that Spyware Protect 2009 displays when it is running, say that the user’s system is infect by various unwanted programs or security risks. But again, like the fake 0 bytes files, these security alerts are only used to scare the user into thinking that his system is badly infected and thereby he has to purchase this rogue security tool.
