According to Wikipedia.org :
“The Windows registry is a directory which stores settings and options for the operating system for Microsoft Windows 32-bit versions, 64-bit versions and Windows Mobile. It contains information and settings for all the hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, users, preferences of the PC, etc. Whenever a user makes changes to Control Panel settings, file associations, system policies, or most installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in the registry. The registry also provides a window into the operation of the kernel, exposing runtime information such as performance counters and currently active hardware. This use of registry mechanism is conceptually similar to the way that Sysfs and procfs expose runtime information through the file system (traditionally viewed as a place for permanent storage), though the information made available by each of them differs tremendously.”
In a simple phrase, the Windows registry is a complex database containing virtually all system, software, hardware and user settings.
Almost every parasite and spyware modifies the Windows registry. In attempt to modify the vital settings of the Windows Operating System and to install a pest in it, Malicious software (browser hijackers, trojans, spyware and adware) add their own registry entries, alter default values and creat new keys.
The following tutorial explains how to find and remove malicious registry entries:
WARNING:The following registry entries manual removal process requires good computer skills, manipulations with Windows registry may cause system crash. If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. |
VERY IMPORTANT:Don’t forget to make system and registry backup before this operations. Please read this article on How to back up and restore the registry in Windows |
1. Press the “Start” button and then click “Run”.
2. Type in “regedit” into the “Open:” field. Then click on the OK button.

4. Navigate through the subkeys and edit the registry entries you are looking for. Or, you can press “Ctrl + F” to locate the subkey that contains the value you want to edit. (F3 to Find Next)

5. Close the registry editor and reboot your computer. If something appears wrong after you change the registry, you can restore the registry from the backup you’ve created.

dk,
some spyware programs will make some changes to the system restrictions in order to hide itself from easy detection and also from easy cleaning.
Here’s a free tool called Remove Restrictions Tool (RRT) which is able to re-enables all what the spyware and malware had previously disabled, and gives you back the control over your own computer.
Restore windows restrictions
Remove Restrictions Tool is able to re-enable:
- Registry Tools (regedit)
- Ctrl+Alt+Del (task manager)
- Folder Options
- Show Hidden Files
Small and easy to use. Make sure you boot in to Safe Mode to use Remove Restrictions Tool (RRT). Just click on the buttons and it’ll do it’s job.

I did all that you recommended and I think I got it licked but I was not sure if I should remove all of the files that came up on the remove malicious Registry Entries under the code rhcjamj0e5fc. I only removed the ones that had the Antivirus XP 2008 code in them. Should I remove them all or not? Your help has been greatly appreciated and are there any more hints that you can give me.

I think those who send out spam and viruses and spyware should be executed on a new Prime-time TV show. It would be the most popular show in the world. We can add other vermin to the list as required: for example we should add the politicians who allowed banks to give out mortgages to those who could not pay them back and those who allowed banks to offer high-interest loans, and regulators who gave AAA ratings to investments when they contained risky mortgages, and the politicians who allowed money to be taken from the Social Security funds, and CEO\’s and politicians who allowed American jobs to be sent overseas, and those who allowed pensions to fail, etc, etc, etc.
This TV show would be the most popular ever.
What do you think?
